Lessons and Carols

Last night we went to Sewanee's Advent tradition of Lessons and Carols. It is modeled after the King's College service in Cambridge (you can usually hear that version on NPR on Christmas Eve). I encourage everyone to come see this at some point in their lives. It was truly beautiful and I had goosebumps throughout and tears at the last song. Here is my favorite verse from the last hymn they sang ("Once in David's Royal City"):

He came down to earth from heaven,
Who is God and Lord of all,
And his shelter was a stable,
And his cradle was a stall;
With the poor, and mean, and lowly
Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

There is so much I want to say about this service, but words do not do it justice, it is really just something one needs to experience.
